About the position
As a staff geologist or engineer, you will be tasked with collecting and interpreting field data, logging subsurface explorations, completing in-situ and laboratory testing, assisting with field construction observation, and completing geologic and engineering analyses and evaluations. You will perform these duties in collaboration with an excellent team of engineers and geologists, supported by our home office in Spokane Valley, WA.

Duties include:

  • Collect soil, rock, aggregate, concrete, and other material samples.
  • Operate testing equipment, collect data, test geotechnical and construction materials, and prepare daily field reports.
  • Complete data analyses, including preparing maps, tables, and figures in spreadsheets, word processors, and CAD.
  • Contribute to written technical reports communicating professional interpretations of field and laboratory data.
  • Observe field explorations, earthwork, and foundation construction activities to characterize subsurface materials and document encountered conditions.
  • Project management, ensuring work performed is consistent with project plans and specifications.
  • Contribute to successful project management, ensuring work performed is consistent with project plans and specifications.
  • Participate in meetings with owners and contractor representatives.
  • Prepare design documents and supporting deliverables, including calculations, design drawings, and specifications.

Experience and qualifications required:

  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience in engineering, geology, construction, or a similar field. Graduate degree work can substitute for experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental, or geotechnical engineering, geology or related field.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) or Geologist in Training (GIT) or the ability to attain within 6 months of employment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication in addition to technical writing skills.
  • Works well independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to consistently meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Must be willing to travel to project sites as needed.
  • Must be willing to be out in the field in varying weather conditions.
  • Able to perform consistent work on a computer.
  • Able to perform a wide range of physical activities and do heavy work, including safely lifting items up to 50 lbs.
  • Pre-employment background check and drug and alcohol test.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Job Type: Full-time
Starting Wage: $30.00 – $36.00 per hour
