A new aero-flite maintenance hanger was constructed at Spokane International Airport. BAI completed subsurface exploration and analysis on the 100,000-square-foot maintenance hangar, which will be used for its aerial wildfire fighting aircraft.
Work included researching available geotechnical, topographic, and geologic information, and logging the subsurface conditions in nine test borings. BAI conducted dynamic cone penetrometer tests adjacent to test boring locations and completed laboratory testing on representative soil samples including moisture content, gradation, pH, and Atterberg Limits. BAI prepared calculations of bearing capacity and settlement, stormwater infiltration, and flexible pavement section thickness, and prepared a geotechnical engineering report presenting the exploration results along with conclusions and recommendations.
BAI also completed special inspections and construction materials testing throughout the development of the maintenance hangar.
