Due to undermining below the downstream, right abutment footing, concrete girders were in danger of collapse. Design and construction temporary underpinning with micropiles enabled safe reconstruction of a deeper abutment footing on solid rock, expedited through effective collaboration between the County, Nichols Kovich Engineering, N. A. Degerstrom, and Budinger.
