About the Position

We are seeking people who are experienced or willing to learn safe operation and support of geotechnical and environmental drilling activities. Exploration technicians will assist drillers in installing monitor wells, collecting drilled soil samples, installing slope and foundation stabilizers, and other geotechnical-related work. This position is considered a safety-sensitive position, and additional rules and regulations may be applied.

Duties include:

  • Handle tooling supplies and materials and supply them to the Driller to maintain operations.
  • Take initiative on job tasks independent of the manager or Driller’s directive.
  • Handle drill casing and rods, samples, and sampling equipment.
  • Assist the Driller with equipment cleaning and maintenance.
  • Identify and execute tasks without direction on the job site and in the shop.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly job site.
  • Accurately document reports and timesheets (Daily DDR’s, DFR’s, & timesheets).
  • Regular lifting and carrying 50-75 lbs.
  • Travel and out-of-town stay required throughout the P.N.W.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Pre- and post-vehicle and equipment inspections.

  • None

Experience and qualifications required:

  • A High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least 2 years of construction-related or labor work experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Pre-employment background check and drug and alcohol test.
  • Ability to pass a Medical Test, with 50 lb. lift test.
  • Willingness to work in the field, in remote areas with varied weather conditions.
  • Handles the physical demands of the job, including standing, walking, kneeling, bending, crouching, pulling, pushing, climbing, and lifting at least 50 pounds.
  • Works well independently and with a team.
  • Able to take directions and instructions.
  • Communicate effectively.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with prior experience in geotechnical, environmental, or other drilling.

Schedule:

  • Employee minimum availability M-F, 6:00 am to 4:00 pm. Check in with department manager required before end of shift if within these hours. Notification to department manager prior to shift required if employee unable to be available or unfit for duty.
  • Longer hours and weekend availability may be required; project dependent.
  • Full time not guaranteed.
